Statistical Analysis

The statistical analyses which are described below are basically mathematical and statistical model building projects resulting from or performed in conjunction with demographic analysis studies. These models estimate and project the population as described therein. Other, more conventional statistical analyses such as Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), regression analysis, tests of significance, hypothesis testing, and the derivation of statistical measures (while they may be tangential to some of these research projects) for the most part are not included in these studies.

• The accuracy of data on the foreign-born populations based on survey and census results.
• Development of household projections by selected social and demographic characteristics of the household and the householder.
• Modeling and applying estimation and projection algorithms to data on the aged for all countries in the world.
• Developing models for projecting households by count and selected socioeconomic characteristics.
• Modeling and preparation of fertility projections for low-fertility countries.
• Development of estimates and projections models for families and individuals by a number of different socio-economic variables.
• Modeling and preparation of estimates of the population by age for school-districts in the United States.
• Preparation of models to estimate the emigrant population from the United States.
• Preparation and evaluation of models for estimating temporary migrants.
• Developing models for estimating the non-immigrant migrants to the United States.
• Developing and disseminating Transportation Analysis Zone (TAZ) data for transportation planning.
• Preparation of tabulation methodologies for performing statistical, economic, and demographic analyses in developing countries.
• Documenting of administrative records data bases used to estimate populations and their components.

Other Related Analyses:

While Sabre’s experts have mainly been focused on the demographic and statistical analyses mentioned above, our staff has also been involved in a number of different studies that are related in application but do not fit into either major category. A summary of those projects is listed below.

Cartographic Analysis and Applications: Sabre Systems, Inc. has a number of persons on staff who are experts in cartography, geography, and GIS (Geographic Information Systems). Using this staff, Sabre has been able to perform a number of different and interesting analyses and other tasks. Some of these tasks are described below.

• Application of GIS to assist in determining the accuracy of census counts.
• Training and assisting client’s employees in the use of different GIS software packages.
• Major responsibility for the development and publication of the Population Atlas from Census 2000 which shows demographic characteristics of the population of the United States by county, plotted on maps of the U.S. This was the first time since 1940 that such a publication was prepared and it has been one of the most widely distributed publications of the U.S. Census Bureau. Sabre is very proud to have had a major role in the development of this very special and important publication.

Other Analyses and Studies: The following are additional analyses that Sabre has performed that are somewhat related to either demographic or statistical analysis, but are neither in the strictest sense of the terms.

• Preparation of a set of By Laws that legally set up an international association dedicated to the AIDS pandemic.
• Development of codebooks to accurately and correctly code information on race and ethnicity on surveys and censuses.
• Conducted a review of international data products and an analysis of the demand for such products in the future.
• Training staffs of governments from developing countries in the application of demographic and statistical processes for use in their own surveys and censuses.
• Provision of data analyses and technical assistance to countries with high incidences of HIV/AIDS cases.
• Preparation of graphs and charts for publication relating to aging and gender analyses.
• Development, monitoring, and evaluation of pilot tests and implementation of HIV/AIDS indicators in different regions of the world.
